My not-so-little brother turned 26 today! I wrote this post about him a year ago, and I still mean everything I said!
Ben and I took Anthony to lunch to celebrate. Anthony's not used to dining with a toddler, but they kept each other entertained. Anthony couldn't get over how fast Ben can put away a banana. He was also slightly caught off guard by my panic when Ben finished said banana and our food still hadn't arrived. Other moms understand this. If Ben is going to sit still at a table, there must be one of three things happening:
A) Food on his plate
B) A mariachi band playing at a table nearby
C) A combination of A and B
BJ's Brewhouse happens not to have a mariachi band, so I sat there willing the waiter to walk around the corner with our tray while using anything within a three foot radius to distract the ravenous toddler.
Anthony stood Ben's crayons up on their ends and let Ben knock them over. So funny, Uncle Anthony! It bought us eight minutes.
(Spoiler alert: The food arrived, Ben ate half my sandwich, Anthony enjoyed his jambalaya, and we left the restaurant without ruining anyone else's dining experience.)
I tried to get a sweet picture of the two of them after lunch, but Ben was distracted by:
A) His crayons
B) The revolving door
I tried again after we got home, but Ben wasn't digging the party hat, so I could only get one of them to smile.
I was so thankful to have this time with Anthony today because he just landed the coolest job ever, and he'll be overseas (on the seas?) for a while. He's the new Stage and Broadcast Manager for The World. Seriously. The rumor is that he'll spend four months at sea, followed by two months at home, etc. We are so excited for him, but we'll miss him a lot.
Happy Birthday to Anthony, the tallest little brother I'll ever have! This year will be the best one yet- I just know it!
